Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice describes the handling of information and materials, including personal data, collected from and about job applicants through A+E Networks’ career websites. It applies to information submitted directly by job applicants, as well as by third-party agencies and recruiters on behalf of applicants. If you are a third-party agency or recruiter submitting an application on behalf of an applicant, it is your responsibility to obtain any requisite consent from the applicant before providing their information to us. Our career websites are not intended for use by children, especially those under the age of thirteen, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of thirteen. This Privacy Notice may be updated periodically, without prior notice to you, to reflect changes in our policies and practices. By providing your consent to the Terms and Conditions below, you are explicitly consenting this Privacy Notice and the information collection, transfer, storage, and use practices outlined herein. What Information Does A+E Networks Collect?
If you choose to apply for a job opening or create an account on our career websites (or if you are a third-party agency or recruiter submitting an application on behalf of an applicant), we obtain the personal data and other information you submit in connection with your application and/or account creation. This information may vary depending on the requirements of a specific position and may include:
- Email address and password for your account login;
- Contact information (e.g., name, physical address, email address, and phone number) for you, andany references you provide (please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to obtain consentbefore providing us with the personal data of others);
- Information about your employment history, education, and skills;
- Information contained in resumes/CVs, cover letters, writing samples, transcripts, certifications, and other materials you submit during the application process;
- Information about your relationship with the A+E Networks family of companies, including any current or prior work experience, or any association you may have with any current or former A+E Networks employees;
- Information about your immigration status and authorization to work in the relevant jurisdiction;
- Voluntary disclosures regarding your race, ethnicity, gender, disability status, veteran status, or other demographic information; and
- Other information you may choose to submit to us in connection with your application.
Through our career websites, you may choose to provide us with access to certain information maintained by third-party websites or services, such as by asking us to import information contained in your employment network or social network profiles (e.g., LinkedIn). The information we may receive varies by website or service, and is controlled by the third-party provider and your privacy settings. By authorizing our access to this information, you agree that we may collect, store, and use this information in accordance with these terms. We are not responsible for the privacy or security practices of any non-A+E Networks-operated websites or services, including those that may be linked through our career websites, and we encourage you to review the privacy policies and other terms of use applicable thereto.
When you visit and use our career websites, we may automatically collect or log certain information about your visits and usage, using technologies such as cookies, server logs, and web beacons. This information may include your internet protocol (IP) address, technical information about browsers and devices used to access the career websites, and information about crashes or other technical issues. This information is generally aggregated to analyze and improve the quality and reliability of the career websites; it is not used Page 2 of 2 to make employment-related decisions. At this time, the career websites are not designed to respond to “Do Not Track” signals, or similar mechanisms, from browsers as there is no common, industry-accepted standard for doing so.
How Does A+E Networks Use This Information?
We use the information obtained through our career websites for the purposes of carrying out our recruitment activities, including:
- Creating and managing your account and job applications;
- Assessing your suitability for the position(s) for which you apply, or other potential current or future A+E Networks positions;
- Verifying your information, including through reference checks and, where applicable, background checks.
- Communicating with you about the application and recruitment process, or sending you information about other A+E Networks positions that may be of interest to you;
- Evaluating and improving our recruitment activities, including through analysis of our applicant pool and our hiring practices or trends;
- Preventing, detecting, and responding to misuse of the career websites, fraud, intellectual property infringement, or other violations of law or applicable A+E Networks policies; and
- Operating and improving our career websites, including through audits, maintenance, and testing.
We may also use the information as necessary or appropriate to protect, enforce, or defend our legal rights, the privacy or safety of our employees, other users of the career websites, and other individuals and entities, or to comply with, or enforce, applicable legal requirements, including performing any legally-required reporting, and responding to legal process.
Who Will Have Access to This Information?
The information obtained through our career websites is shared within the A+E Networks family of companies, including our subsidiaries, joint ventures, and other affiliates.
We may also share this information with other third parties, as follows:
- With service providers we use in connection with the career websites and the recruitment process, including companies that host and support our career websites (e.g., Workday), and companies that perform applicant background screenings (e.g., HireRight), where applicable.
- With any successor, in the event that we sell or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets, such as in the event of a merger, acquisition, or other disposition;
- With others, as necessary or appropriate to protect, enforce, or defend our legal rights, the privacy or safety of our employees, other users of the career websites, and other individuals and entities, or to comply with, or enforce, applicable legal requirements, including performing any legally-required reporting, and responding to legal process; and
- With others, when you direct us or consent to such sharing.
How Does A+E Networks Protect This Information?
We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to reduce the risk of accidental, unlawful, or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure, or use of the information obtained through our career websites. However, no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we make reasonable efforts to protect this information, we cannot guarantee it's absolute security.
How Long Will A+E Networks Retain This Information?
If you accept a job offer with A+E Networks, the information obtained through our career websites and application process will become part of your personnel records, to be retained throughout, and for a period after, your employment (specific periods vary by country). If we do not employ you, we may nevertheless continue to retain and use this information in order to consider you for new positions, to refer back to an earlier application if you submit a resume or other information to us again in the future, and as otherwise set forth above.
